What a resident pays here under Fair Deal
Under Fair Deal the resident pays a contribution worked out from their income and assets, and the HSE pays the rest of the home’s weekly price. The HSE says the contribution is the same at every approved nursing home, so it does not depend on which home is chosen.
The one exception is a home whose weekly price is lower than the resident’s contribution. Then the resident pays the home’s price and the HSE pays nothing there. At St Oliver Plunkett Community Unit that would only happen if the contribution came to more than €1,590 a week. Work out the contribution in two minutes, with no name and nothing stored.
Extra charges
Fair Deal does not cover extra charges for things such as hairdressing, therapies or activities. Ask St Oliver Plunkett Community Unit for a written list of every extra charge, and make sure it is in the contract before the move.
